The history of cheese fondue dates back to the Swiss Alps, where it was first eaten in the 18th century. Originally, cheese fondue was a way of melting old and hard cheeses to make them more digestible. Today, cheese fondue is a culinary delight known and loved worldwide.

To make a tasty cheese fondue, it is important to choose the right cheese blends. Traditionally, cheese fondue consists of a mix of Swiss cheeses, such as Gruyère and Emmentaler. These cheeses have a delicious nutty flavour and melt well. For extra flavour, you can also add a little white wine and garlic to the cheese mixture.

Preparing cheese fondue is simple. Grate the cheeses and mix them in a pan with a dash of white wine and garlic. Heat slowly over a low heat, stirring constantly until the cheeses are completely melted and form a smooth, creamy sauce. If necessary, add a little cornstarch to bind the sauce.

Cheese fondue is often served with a variety of side dishes. Choose pieces of fresh bread, vegetables such as cauliflower and broccoli, and boiled potatoes to dip in the melted cheese. This gives a delicious combination of textures and flavours.

Enjoying cheese fondue is not only a gastronomic adventure, but also a social experience. Invite friends or family, gather around the fondue set and enjoy dipping and tasting the various delicacies together. It creates a relaxed and cosy atmosphere where everyone can enjoy the delicious flavours.
